Meet Dan Walker! Dan is a writer, publisher, and professional musician dedicated to expanding the imaginations of children through adventurous storytelling. As early as 8 years old, Dan harnessed a passion for writing and dreamed of having his own stories tucked onto a bookshelf, rubbing shoulders with some of the greats: Munsch, Carle, and Dr. Seuss.

This excitement was only accentuated further working closely with kids over the last 20 years at his two Toronto-area music schools and having two wonderful young kids of his own. Not only has Dan learned through countless conversations and interactions with children that they are hilarious and genuine, but also that their insights and perspectives on the world – and all aspects of life – are unique and humbling.

DWS Publishing was born out of these experiences and from the desire to publish ideas independently and creatively – a platform for showcasing children’s storybooks by a variety of wonderful authors and illustrators that are captivating, fun, and educational. We are so excited to share our upcoming projects with you!

Dan graduated with Honours from the Professional Writing program at York University and has balanced writing with teaching music and performing professionally in various musical projects, including rising rock band Lucky Honey. He has two kids, Riley and Isla with his wife Jessa. They live just outside of Toronto, ON.
